Prize Patrol Surprises Teachers

More than $54,000 was awarded to Bryan ISD teachers and staff Thursday by the Bryan ISD Education Foundation.

The "Prize Patrol" made surprise visits to nine campuses as part of the 2007 Grants To Teachers program.

The grants will fund projects to enhance the learning process through innovative and creative teaching approaches.

The program was designed to provide funds not available through traditional local, state or federal sources.

Winners and projects are:

Laura Delzer & Amber Harper, GRAD/Lamar: Boosting Critical Thinking & Communication Skills Through the Use of Forensics

Melissa Clary, Houston Elementary: Creative Math Centers to Maximize Learning

Sandy Fleming, Johnson Elementary: Linking Reading, Science & Technology

Third grade teaching team, Johnson Elementary: Flashy Facts

Ana Ortiz & Susan Forst, Jones Elementary: Jones is Flipping for Fluency

Krisha Tracy & Katie Bynum, Rayburn Middle School: Using Vernier Temperature Probes to Explore Heat Capacity

Linda Madden, Administration: Jane Long International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme & SFA Math/Science/Technology Magnet Academy
