34-year-old Roberto Andaverde taught at Webb Elementary in Navasota for several years before he was arrested and charged with indecency with a child three weeks ago. The former bilingual kindergarten teacher's confession plays a big role in how much time he could spend behind bars. According to a probable cause statement from the Navasota Police Department dated October 9, a report was filed by a school administrator. The report said a kindergartener made an outcry to her mother that Andaverde "hugged and touched her middle part." The probable cause statement says in an October 8 interview with a school administrator, the victim said Andaverde "gave her a hug ad then touched her middle part." The child identified where she was allegedly touched by Andaverde by identifying the mid-section on a doll.

The child was interviewed by child advocacy center Scotty's House on October 9, and repeated what she told the school administrator. On the same date, Andaverde confessed to hugging and touching the victim. He stated he was curious and later stated that "if he touched her there it must have been sexual." Andrade also admitted to two separate incidents, in which he stated they were on purpose and not accidental.

Grimes County District Attorney Tuck McLain said the case is expected to be presented to the grand jury in November. Meanwhile, Roberto Andaverde remains in the Grimes County jail on a $100,000. The district attorney says Andaverde faces two counts of indecency with a child with contact. If convicted of those charges Andaverde faces up to a $20,000 fine, and up to 40 years in prison.

Looks bad for the guy, what makes me suspicious is that most often than not, single phrases are taken out of context, I would like to read the whole transcript and maybe a good idea to have a translator and perhaps his lawyer.

I can't turn on the Television or open the paper without seeing some teacher's mugshot. Teachers couldn't stay out of jail if their lives depended on it! The school districts must be recruiting from under a bridge. On second thought, I take that back. I wouldn't want to offend those living under bridges by linking them to the thugs that work in the schools.

I spoke to a mother who was defending him, after I told her he confessed she still could not believe it. Even after it came out of the horses mouth. Hmmmm. The comment about Ted Bundy is true, his friends and family and people close to him had no idea he was capable of such crimes. Before he was executed he(Ted) had an interview with Dr. James Dobson-The only one- and stated that "anyone was capable of being a Ted Bundy". How did it start, small he(Ted) stated it started with porn. Sin will do this to people and then their sin hurts others. So my point is it really doesn't matter what country the person is from because it could have been a home grown Navasodian. Not every mexican teacher is a pedifile people. Think about it. I am not defending this teacher, but the ones that are good teachers and love doing their jobs. It's just sad this incident has blown it for other Hispanic teachers, because the first thing that is going to go through people's minds is this incident.
