Brazos County Chief Deputy Appointment
The Brazos County Sheriff's Office has appointed Mike Wilson as the next Chief Deputy.

"I am proud to announce that Mike Wilson has been appointed as the next Chief Deputy for the Brazos County Sheriff's Office," Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk said.
Mike, his wife Georgetta and their 19 year old son - Colton (currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps), 16 year old daughter - Victoria and 23 year old stepson - Dustyn are residents of College Station.
Mike is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Police Science. Mike has 27 years experience in the criminal justice field:
he started his career in May of 1980 as a Corrections Officer with the Texas Department of Corrections serving for 4 years; served as a Police Officer for Baylor University in Waco for 1 1/2 years; then, following in his father's foot-steps, Mike joined the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Trooper in May, 1987. The following is a list of Mike's assignments while he was with DPS: Trooper (1987 - Waxahachie), Corporal (1993 - Waxahachie), Sergeant (1994 - Waco), Lieutenant (1996 - Tyler), Captain (2003 - Bryan), and Major (2006 - Austin & 2008 - Houston). Mike will be retiring from DPS to take the Chief Deputy position.
Mike has over 5,600 hours of law enforcement training, holds a Texas Master Peace Officer certificate, an Instructor Proficiency certificate, and Firearms Instructor certificate. Mike also attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (Session #212).
On Monday, November 2nd, 2009 at 5:30pm Mike was sworn in as the Brazos County Sheriff's Chief Deputy at a Meet & Greet Reception for the Sheriff's Office staff at the Sheriff's Administration Building. Mike will be introduced to the Brazos County Commissioners Court at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009. Mike's official first day on the job will be Monday, November 9th, 2009.
