The generosity of Citibank and Citigroup is being felt across the Brazos Valley. Earlier this year, the financial institution announced a donation of more than $510,000. Bryan ISD's Education Foundation was one of the beneficiaries.
$25,000 of that money will benefit education programs within Bryans schools.
"We are very grateful and excited to receive this generous grant from the Citigroup Foundation. Our motto is 'Every Child - Every Opportunity,' and this grant will assist us in continuing to enhance the education of our students through our Grants-to-Teachers program," said Sandra Davis, Executive Director of the Bryan ISD Education Foundation.
"Our goal is to encourage non-traditional teaching methods in the classroom," said Clay Riebe, Citibank Market President. "We're looking forward to seeing the creative ideas from teachers and the end result that will make learning exciting and fun for all students."
The BISD Foundation is now seeking proposals for these grants that will be awarded in June, 2007 to be used in the 2007-08 school year.
Application and guidelines are posted here.
Scotty's House, Habitat for Humanity and College Station ISD's Education Foundation also benefited from the Citibank Grant. The groups were chosen because of their success in education.
