FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, have visited wounded soldiers and their families after the mass shooting at Fort Hood.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

An Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 29 others in a shooting rampage Thursday at a Soldier Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood. Hasan is hospitalized, under guard.

It is grammatically correct to refer to all former presidents as President.

All the former Presidents retain their title and are referred to as such so get over it -- the point is he went, he went immediately and he went because he truly cares. Obama is not a supportive CIC period.

It appears a refresher course is needed on Associate Press writing style. Please refer to the AP Press Releases 11/12/2008 Presidential Style, Advisory EDITORS: The Associated Press is adopting a universal style for referring to all heads of state, including the United States. Effective Thursday at 3 a.m. EST, the AP will use the title and first and family names on first reference: President George W. Bush, not just President Bush; President-elect Barack Obama, not just President-elect Obama; President Nicolas Sarkozy, not just President Sarkozy. http://www.ap.org/pages/about/whatsnew/wn_111208a.html And, if you go back and reference older AP Stylebooks, the use of "former" isn't necessary. Just food for thought... or just make sure you know the AP rules before commenting on a story that was submitted by AP itself.
