Armed with water bottles, and sneakers several teams walked to raise funds for those suffering from Alzheimer's. The12th Annual Brazos Valley Memory Walk was held at Wolf Pen Amphitheater in College Station. This year's walk was in honor of Virginia Thompson who died of Alzheimer's in April 2007, after a four year battle. It's a neuro degenerative brain disease Joyce Winslow said no one should have to suffer alone
"Educate themselves to start with and the second thing is to try to put a team together of family members, medical personnel, whoever, people who know what the disease is about, " said participant, Joyce Winslow.
This November for Alzheimer's Awareness Month participants wanted to raise awareness to the 6th leading cause of death for Americans (The Center for Disease Control). It's estimated that over 5.3 million people in the United States are currently living with Alzheimer's.
