Every year it gets bigger and bigger. Poker players from all over the world descended upon Las Vegas this past summer to take part in the World Series Of Poker's Main Event. One of those players is from College Station.
"College Station is not too big and not too small, it has everything I need and the people are real down to earth which gives it a small town feel. I just really like it here," said Jordan Smith, a professional poker player who resides in College Station.
Smith moved to the Brazos Valley to follow some friends from his hometown of Tool. After one week at Blinn, Smith dropped out to pursue a career in poker. Things did start off on the right foot for the Texan.
"After you go broke a couple of times, you don't want to do it again so you grow a little older and wiser and treat it like a business, not a hobby," said Smith.
So far this year Smith has earned over $1.6 million dollars and he almost took a seat at the final table at the Main Event.
"I was actually a little bit relieved in a sense. I was glad to come back here to Texas and just chill out for a while."

So proud of you buddy!
Awesome job Jordan!! My husband and I watched the main event and never knew you were from our area! I won a seat to the $1500.00 tournamnet on June 2nd. It was a real experience but didn't make it as far as you did. We both plan to go back next year and play in the WSOP again!! Great Job!!
Please come and teach me your ways!
