DALLAS (AP) - Victims of the deadly shootings at Fort Hood were
remembered in flag-waving Veterans Day celebrations across Texas.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, Fort Hood's commanding general, called on
the post Wednesday to dedicate itself to the memories of the
victims.

The suspected gunman, Maj. Nidal Hasan, was shot and wounded by
police to halt the Nov. 5 attacks that left 13 dead.
Cub Scouts put U.S. flags by headstones at the Central Texas
State Veterans Cemetery near Fort Hood.

Houston Mayor Bill White mentioned the nation's mourning for the
Fort Hood victims. White says it's fitting to "remember the
sacrifices made daily by the veterans still in combat and to honor
the service of all who have served."

exas Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jose Mayorga told a ceremony in
Brownsville that the events at Fort Hood made Veterans Day even
more important. Mayorga said "it kind of brings it home."
