Double-charging customers has landed Christopher Rios, 32, behind bars in Walker County. The Huntsville resident was arrested after a Sam Houston State University student received a bank alert on their cell phone about a double charge at Wendy's. The student went back to the Huntsville fast food restaurant and spoke with the manager. Police say the manager counted Rios' cash register and discovered the student wasn't the only customer Rios double-charged. Police say Rios was arrested Monday morning and charged with credit card abuse. An investigation revealed Rios also had five outstanding warrants for credit/debit card abuse in Brazos County. Rios told Huntsville Police detectives he double-charged customers and pocketed the money because he was having trouble making ends meet.
Rios is in the Walker County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He also has an unpaid capias pro fine of $1,659 and $491 out of Brazos County.
