Big bucks are coming from Capitol Hill to local Head Starters.
The Brazos Valley Community Action Agency is getting a $2 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services. The money will go towards early childhood education programs according to Congressman Chet Edwards, who announced the grant.
"Early childhood education is essential to establishing the building blocks for a successful education system," said Edwards in a statement. "The dedicated folks at Brazos Valley Community Action play an important role in the education of children in the Brazos Valley and I am pleased that they will receive this important funding."
BVCAA Head Start serves nearly 600 children and families in the Brazos Valley.
