COLLEGE STATION -- The College Station Pee Wee furthered their chance to go to Disney World for the Pop Warner National Championships by winning their second playoff game.

The Raiders beat the Monument Colorado Bears by a score of 32-14 at St. Joseph's Catholic School Football Stadium on Saturday. The Raiders will now travel with both their Junior Pee Wee and Pee Wee teams to the State Semi-Finals in Lancaster at Beverly Humphrey Stadium on 200 E. Wintergreen Rd. in Lancaster, TX. The Junior Pee Wee will play the St. Phillips Saints at 3:30pm and the Pee Wee will play the Oak Cliff Jets at 7:30pm

In order to continue through the playoffs the College Station Raiders are needing donations. It will cost about $50,000.00 to send all 50 athletes to the National Championships at Disney World not to mention the costs for taking them to Dallas and Tyler for the State Playoffs.

Please contact Kenneth Ray at kray@digison.net if you can make a donation and he will give you instructions on how to do so. This will be the first time two teams from the Brazos Valley have made it to Disney World in the same year if they win the next two playoff games.

Really...."Ann" great Im soooo glad that you are able to provide for your kiddo's (lovely.) This year has been extremely hard for my family, my husband has worked in the oil field for 8yrs now...we have taken a hard hit this year....BUT whenever it comes to kids of any age, any city, any organization trying to better themselves Im always for it...so if that means not going out to eat w/ my co-workers for a couple of days & donating something small!!Good Job Raiders...I hope you boys get to go play football in Florida! Keep your little heads up & dont listen to all the negative remarks!

This is not about whether it is Bryan or College Station asking for the money on whether you get it or not! Yeah Buccaneers asked for a lot of money 2 years ago, but you have to remember that they were the 1st teams from the Brazos Valley to make it to the Championships in Florida. They may not have been both football teams, but the cheer squads are part of Pop Warner too! Knowing that Disney is a possibility, teams should start fundraising at the beginning of the season to raise funds needed. Then if they don't go that year, just think of how much you will have saved up when you do get to go. We should all learn from the past! The Buccaneers having to raise money in 10 short days 2 years ago should have taught ALL Brazos Valley Pop Warner that it can be done, and you should plan on making it to that level even if you don't! Coaches go into the season anyway telling kids that they can play in Florida, so why not tell them they need to start fundraising then!!

I have had all three of my children participate in Pop Warner starting back 6 years ago when they first came to the Brazos Valley! I am a single mom and the support that these coaches/fathers have given my children when their dead beat father would not, WORDS CAN NOT DESCRIBE! So again thses children face another STONE being thrown at them due to the fact that people have no idea waht they are talking about! Yes some of these children are econimically challanged but these players work their butts off three nights a week for practice and games on Saturday! They do deserve our support! HOWEVER Come election time Im sure you would have no problem donating money for a campaign that supports crooks to stay in office! YET YOU STILL SUPPORT THEM to travel to foreign countries! Way to go community support here! GROW UP!!!!
