It's Christmas time in Bryan.
The city kicks off the second annual Lights On! holiday celebration Thursday night.
The event will feature some Christmas staples -- a tree lighting ceremony, cookies and hot cider. There will also be a Christmas carol sing-a-long.
The tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Sale Park and will be hosted by News Three anchor Joe Brown.
A performance by the Brazos Valley Community Band will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Palace Theater.

Actually everyone who says it's about Christians celebrating, there are many other religions who celebrate during this season. Ever heard of Kwanzaa or Hanukkah? Those are just two of many that are celebrated during the same Holiday season that Christmas falls under. It's not all about Christianity this time of year.

Anyone else offended that the word "Christmas" was omitted from the song being sung just after the "Christmas Tree" was lit? CH is right about the reason and the name of the season.

There's so much to do after Thanksgiving, the Christmas season always seems a little rushed. I'm glad they're doing it now. Let's all enjoy the season a few days longer.
