In a very literal sense, the signature piece of the frame of the new justice center in Bryan was put in place on Thursday.
Construction crews welded a large beam within the frame of the new center. The white piece of steel actually bears the signatures of police officers, muncipal court staffers, and city council members on it.
By having their names become a part of the physical building, those working in the new facility will have tangible connection to their workplace.
The $17.5 million, two-story center should be completed in the spring of 2008. It will house both the Bryan Police Department and the city's municipal courts. It will mark the first time in the Bryan Police Department's history that they will have a facility built specifically for them.
