A woman is dead following a mobile home fire in South Brazos County.
Fire Chief Emily Staples says Monday's fire was reported before 7 a.m. with South Brazos County volunteers responding to the fire off of White Switch Road south of Millican.
Staples says the cause of the fire remains under investigation and that investigators from the State Fire Marshall's office are on the scene, hot spots and intense heat has prevented them from being able to begin looking through the rubble.
An autopsy will be performed tomorrow. An identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

There is police protection in that area. It is called the Sheriff's Dept. Could have been any number of things. People need to be more aware. If you see a car that does not belong, call it in. Watch out for your neighbors.

Just wanted to let the families know that they are in our thoughts and prayers! I know this is a very hard time. I know that God will be with you and send you the comfort and closure you will need in this moment.
