At Bryan's city council meeting Tuesday evening, there was overwhelming support for chaging the name of 20th Street to Pruitt Street.
Citizens and councilmembers spoke in favor of the name change in honor of Willie and Mell Pruitt, longtime residents of the city known for their work in the community.
Their latest project had been the creation of the African American Museum, which sits on 20th Street.
A final reading of the ordinance is needed before the name change is officially approved.
