Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, across the Brazos Valley, Saturday afternoon and evening. Winds in excess of 40-60mph are the main concern, within the strongest activity. An isolated, brief tornado threat cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall between 1" and 3" has the potential to cause localized flash flooding in a few locations.
The victim of a violent family dispute in Grimes County was listed in stable condition Sunday night.
Sheriff officials say 56-year-old Mac Popham was air-lifted to Scott and White in Temple after he was shot in the stomach Saturday evening by his brother-in-law, Paul Spradling.
Officials say the shooting happened at a residence off FM 39 on Sleepy Hollow Lane.
Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell says it appears Popham had been drinking and told his brother-in-law he had at one time beat his wife. That led to an argument.
Spradling has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Grimes County Jail on a $35,000 bond.
