One of Grimes County's most respected criminal investigators could soon be wearing the handcuffs he used to carry. A Montgomery County grand jury is scheduled to rule Thursday on a domestic violence complaint against former Chief Deputy Sheriff Johnny Martinez.

The alleged incident occurred April 13 at Martinez' Montgomery County home. The 14 year veteran of the Grimes County Sheriff's Office has not been charged with a crime, but he did resign from the sheriff's department April 19.

Instead of pressing charges, Montgomery County authorities have decided to present the case to the grand jury which will then decide if there's enough evidence to warrant an arrest.
