Cancer Treatment Available In Walker CountyThe latest technology used in cancer treatment is now available in Huntsville.
The University Cancer Center Huntsville, located just off Interstate 45, is now open to patients.
Construction on the multi-million dollar facility began in the fall of last year.
The state-of-the-art center offers Walker County residents access to diagnostic equipment like CT and PET scans, MRIs, and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy which is used in the treatment of prostate, breast, and lung cancer.
This is the first time radiation treatment has been available in the county.
In addition, the facility also provides patients with transportation service to and from the center.
A spokesperson for the center said county cancers patients are now able to stay under the care of their primary physician.
