Blinn College and Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley have teamed up to create a Construction Trades Training Institute, directed at meeting the needs of construction and trade workers.
Thursday afternoon the new training program received a little extra help, as the Texas Workforce Commission presented the Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley Board with a $191,781check. The money is expected to be directed towards students tuition and wages during training.
"For boards who have a valid need for funds we like to make these available as quickly as possible," said Larry Jones with Texas Workforce Commission. "That's what we've done in this case, giving Brazos Valley an opportunity not only to work with their youth and create this training institute, but to also provide for the needs of their employers here."
The year round program is expected to train students for a high demand career in the energy industry.
