Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, across the Brazos Valley, this afternoon and evening. Winds in excess of 40-60mph are the main concern, within the strongest activity. An isolated, brief tornado threat cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall between 1" and 3" has the potential to cause localized flash flooding in a few locations.
Some Bryan elementary school students are on the receiving end of some financial help for college.
Six Neal Elementary School students received $1,000 scholarships Tuesday from St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bryan.
The church has partnered with the school on other projects, but this is the first time scholarships have been awarded.
The money will be deposited in the students' names with the Bryan ISD Education Foundation.
The winners' photographs will also be displayed at Neal, and the students will be invited back periodically over the next seven years so mentors can encourage them.
