After a strong afternoon cold front, brisk north winds -- 20-25mph -- will continue to drop temperature to / just above a freeze tonight. A rain chance could turn into a scattered, wintry mix between 6am and 10am Thursday. Little-to-no accumulation is expected -- however, caution is urged driving on bridges and overpasses.
An accident in Burleson County has left one person dead and two injured.
It happened northeast of Caldwell on FM 1362 around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say a 2002 Ford Explorer was travelling southbound, but was unable to negotiate a turn. DPS officals say the SUV went off the road, struck a tree, continued on and eventually crashed head-on into another tree.
A juvenile from Bryan, Bobby Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:50 p.m.
Injured in the accident was Johnny Ray Jackson and his son, Johnny Ray Jackson, Jr. Both were taken to Scott and White in Temple. The elder was last listed in guarded condition, while the younger was last said to be in good condition.
DPS officials report only Johnny Ray Jackson, Jr. was not wearing a seatbelt. They also could not confirm the relationship, if any, between Bobby Jackson and the other two.
Authorities say weather conditions at the time were dry, clear and cloudy.
