Two men were arrested Sunday evening after Milam County Sheriff officials say they ignored two road closed signs and found themselves stranded in high water on County Road 227.
Officials say Miguel Ruiz, 38, of Cameron was charged with disregarding traffic control barricades.
His passenger, Tommy Montalbo, 33, of Buckholts was arrested for public intoxication.
According to sheriff officials they received a call that the pair had attempted to cross the high water when the engine of their car stalled. Officials were able to reach the men and arrest them.
The two were booked into the Milam County Jail and and the vehicle was removed from the water.
Milam County Sheriff Charlie West urges motorists not to attempt crossing any of the high water areas and to observe warning signs. West said that people who cross these areas will be arrested.
