A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties until 8pm. Severe thunderstorms are possible with large hail and strong, damaging winds being the main concern. A brief, isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out, as well.
Despite pleas from a number of parents, Bryan ISD decided against changing its policy that does not allow seniors to walk at graduation if they haven't passed the TAKS test.
In Navasota, however, it's a different story.
Friday afternoon, that city's school board voted 4-3 to change its policy and allow seniors to participate in the ceremony even if they haven't passed TAKS.
The ruling comes at the 11th hour, as graduation took place Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
Friday's was the second reading on the policy change. The first earlier this week also passed 4-3.
