Motorists could experience delays starting Monday as the north side of Longmire Drive at Rock Prairie Road is closed for repairs to the street pavement and valley gutter.
"While it may pose an inconvenience, the closure will facilitate a safer work zone and enable the contractor to complete the project quicker and with better quality control," said Gary Balmain, Streets and Drainage Superintendent for the City of College Station. "The end result will create a smoother approach and transition for traffic through the intersection. Ramps at the sidewalk also will be brought into ADA compliance."
College Station officials say no business access will be affected. Drivers in the area are cautioned to pay attention in the work zone and to watch for heavy trucks and equipment moving in and out of the area.
Weather permitting, the project should be complete by June 15.
