A local architecture professor proves he can do more than just blueprints.

A reception was held Sunday afternoon at the Brazos Valley African-American Museum for Robert Schiffhauer.

The artist and A&M professor, recently completed several portraits featuring influential African-Americans.

Shiffhauer said the spirit and feel of jazz music inspired his masterpieces.

He also said he hopes his art work rekindles interest in those pioneering African-Americans whom helped cultivate American and world history.

Schiffhauer's artwork will be on display at the Brazos Valley African American Museum through September.
