It's supposed to be the season of giving, but for others the extra long holiday break provided the perfect opportunity for taking.

"They just broke the glass right here and opened up the latch and jumped through the window," Bryan Resident Chase Wersal said.

It's a sight Chase Wersal and his roommate Blake Reed didn't expect to see coming home from Thanksgiving break.

"When I first came in the mattress was flipped and pushed to the side, pillows everywhere, all my drawers ripped open," Roommate Blake Reed said.

"All these drawers were dumped across the floor," Wersal said.

"I was really hoping it was a prank. I called my roommates and said please tell me you're kidding," Reed said.

But as it turns out the situation was anything but a laughing matter.

"They got a laptop, my watch, his is more expensive and video game systems," Wersal said.

"All the games were stacked up right here and the consoles. the Playstation 2 and the Xbox's," Reed said.

The thief also managed to take away more than just possessions, but also the guys sense of security.

"It's like your heart sinks. You feel so violated, I just don't feel safe at all," Wersal said.

Adding to that feeling of uneasiness is that their home was targeted in broad daylight.

"It seemed like he knew my work schedule and when I had been leaving," Wersal said.

"It just sucks, I can't believe it happened to me," Reed said.

Both Reed and Wersal say they are now coordinating their schedules to make sure someone is home at all times, and will be looking to get a home alarm put in to their next house.

They are asking if anyone in the area noticed any suspicious vehicles, or people at their home in the 2800 block of Leonard Rd. in Bryan to contact police at 979-209-5316.

Bryan Police say during the holidays they tend to see a sharp peak in break-ins so to help prevent yourself from becoming the next victim here are some things you can do.

-Write down the serial numbers and take pictures of electronics in your home.
-Have neighbors watch your house when you're away.
-College Students should take expensive items home with them when leaving town.

TAMU needs to give more information out about some of these dangerous gang areas of the city. They are lucky a local Gangbanger did not shot them.

We all need to watch out for each other. If you see a car sitting along side the road, take down the license plate number and description then if you hear of a break in at that particular location you could have the big break that they need right in your own hands. Call the law if in doubt....it is better to be safe than sorry and the people's belonging that you may save will greatly appreciate YOU.

those lazy people need to get up off their butts and get a dang job and stop depending on the people that work hard for their stuff just so they can take it.
