A Bryan man will spend the rest of his life behind bars. David Allen Vandyne, 44, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and was found guilty of a second.

Vandyne waived a jury trial and was sentenced by 272nd District Court Judge Rick Davis. Davis sentenced Vandyne to two concurrent life sentences.

According to court documents, Vandyne raped a 10-year-old boy in 2002. During an interview with investigators, Vandyne admitted to molesting 15 other boys since he was 18.

Vandyne said the only way he could keep from offending was to kill himself or be incarcerated, according to court documents.

After Vandyne was sentenced, one of the victims addressed the defendant in court.

"I'm not scared of you," the young man said. "I let you control my life for years and I'm not going to do it anymore."

Prosecutor Jarvis Parsons said Vandyne's case is the worst sexual predator case he has seen tried in Brazos County.
