Bryan Mayor Mark Conlee and College Station Mayor Ben White had one hour Saturday to raise as much money as they could by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign. Three years ago, an employee of the Walmart in Bryan came up with the idea for the competition between the mayors of Bryan and College Station. Two years in a row, Mayor Conlee has raised the most money, ringing in more than $3,000 last year. Though it's tough economic times, the city of Bryan won the contest raising $2390. College Station raised $780. Last year, College Station raised roughly $1,600.
Wal-Mart will match the money raised up to $1,000 and pledge an additional thousand dollars to the Salvation Army on behalf of the winning mayor.
Mayor Conlee will also be presented a bell trophy by Mayor White at an upcoming City Council meeting.

do you know who won yet.Go Bryan
Congratulations Bryan! Embarrassingly, I have to admit that the best man won. White's term expires in May. Next year we will have a new mayor and we will win the contest.
