Brenham Community Mourns Death of Prominent Educator
A prominent Brenham educator who died Sunday is being remembered. Dr. Bobbie Marie Dietrich, who was eighty-two, and the wife of Dr. Wilfred O. Dietrich, died at the Trinity Medical Center.

A prominent Brenham educator who died Sunday is being remembered. Dr. Bobbie Marie Dietrich, who was eighty-two, and the wife of Dr. Wilfred O. Dietrich, died at the Trinity Medical Center.

Ms. Dietrich was born in 1927 in Pelltown, Kaufman, Texas. She received at Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard Payne in 1948, received a Master's Degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Texas and in 1978, earned a doctorate from Texas A&M-Commerce.

Forty years of her life were devoted to teaching. Eleven of these years were spent teaching for the American School System-Mannheim, Germany, Frankfort, Germany, Hakata, Japan, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, Ankara, Turkey, Chateauroux, France, Scotland, Peshawar, Pakistan before returning to Texas to teach in Sweetwater, Fort Worth and Richardson. The last 25 years were spent at Blinn College where she was director of Speech Communications and Theater.

She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Fortnightly Club.

She also published several books and published many articles in professional magazines. Dr. Dietrich was also very active in organizing the Brenham Heritage Museum.

She was married to Dr. Wilfred Dietrich for over forty years.

A memorial service for Dr. Bobbie Dietrich will be held Thursday, December 10th, at the First Baptist Church in Brenham.
