Obesity is an ongoing problem in America. It's a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on a persons health.
As the battle of the bulge is fought, people are turning to weight loss surgery. Gastric bypass surgery, Lap-Band surgery and the gastric sleeve procedure are the three most widely performed procedures and all limit the amount of food a person is able to eat.
Surgeon, Dr. John Mason says, "It's a restrictive procedure, but a different type of restriction. Restriction not by size of food particle but by restricting the actual capacity of the stomach so that one can consume a greater variety of food choices, but be satisfied with a smaller amount."
If you're contemplating surgery, here are some questions you may want to ask before making a decision.
First, which type of bariatric surgery is best for you.
What's the recovery time following the procedure?
What are the dietary guidelines after surgery?
How will having this surgery improve my life?
And will I need to have plastic surgery afterwards?
Though weight loss surgery may be considered extreme to some, for those who are reaping the benefits of a somewhat quicker slim down, many have discovered that having the surgery is life-altering and some say they are able do things they weren't able to do prior to the surgery.
It's also to keep in mind that after weight loss surgery a person will have to make some drastic lifestyle changes including altering how they eat, what they eat and when they eat because of the all of the changes made to the stomach during.
