Bryan police have arrested a man in connection with an early morning murder in the 1000 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
Lee Ernest Hamilton was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with murder. Police believe Hamilton, 53, is responsible for the death of Robert Earl Jordon.
Police say they were called out around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning in reference to a disturbance, but when they arrived they found Jordon, 44, lying on the ground, barely breathing. Jordon later died at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate he suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
"Both of them were really nice people," a neighbor of the victim said. "Everybody is hurt because they like the both of them. Everybody is very, very hurt."
What prompted the killing is still under investigation. Bryan police say they have no clear motive.
This marks the second homicide in less than two weeks. In 2005 there were seven homicides and in 2006 there were six.
