According to court documents, Robert Earl Jordon of Bryan, died from being beaten in the head several times with a shotgun.
Documents state the defendant, Lee Ernest Hamilton of Bryan, told police Jordon had been harassing him.
According to court documents, Hamilton, 53, attempted to shoot Jordon in retaliation, but when the gun didn't discharge, he allegedly struck him in the head.
Bryan police say the altercation happened in the 1000 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
Police say they found Jordon early Tuesday morning lying in his garage, barely breathing. Jordon later died at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate he suffered blunt force trauma to the head.
This marks the second homicide in less than two weeks. In 2005 there were seven homicides and in 2006 there were six.
Hamilton's bond has been set at $80,000.
