Perry Signs Off on Health Care After Adoption

AUSTIN -- Children adopted after foster care will be eligible for monthly health care subsidies under a bill signed Wednesday by Governor Rick Perry.

Backers say the measure is intended to help families who want to adopt, but can't afford health insurance.

The plan provides $150 monthly health insurance subsidies to adopted children from foster care who are not eligible for Medicaid.

Participating families who have an income less than 300 percent of the federal poverty limit are eligible to receive health care benefits.
