A total of 8 human cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in Brazos County by the Texas Department of State Health Services as of September 17, 2012.
Please keep in mind that all of Brazos County is positive for West Nile.
All Brazos County residents are urged to keep their defenses and practice the Four D's:
1. Drain standing water around the house, including tires, cans, flowerpots, rain gutters, buckets, wading pools, puddle and so on. Trim grass and shrubs and do not over water lawns and gardens.
2. Wear insect repellent containing DEET.
3. Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
4. Dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors to prevent bites.
