An eight year old in Navasota is being hailed a hero for saving his sister from alleged kidnapper.
According to the child's mother, an unidentified Hispanic woman approached four year old MaKayla Mitchell and her brother, eight year old Donavon, while they were playing in their front yard on Sunday.
The woman allegedly offered each child a $1 to take them anywhere they wanted to go and that's when Donavon screamed for their mother who was inside the home.
The suspect fled and was reportedly driving a silver car but make and model are unknown.
The children's mother, Shawn Mitchell, says her son told her he had seen the suspect's car parked behind the bushes of a neighbor's house earlier in the day.
The child also told police he'd seen two other children inside the vehicle but police say no other incidents have been reported.
No arrests have been made but the investigation continues at this time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Navasota investigators at 936-825-6124.
Police advise parents to not only monitor their children's outdoor play but to also make sure their children know they should never get into a car with a stranger.
