COLLEGE STATION -- Injured Texas A&M basketball player Derrick Roland will spend one more night at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, before returning to College Station on a medical plane Christmas Day.

Derrick fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg Tuesday night during a 73-64 loss to Washington.

The game was stopped for ten minutes while medical staff from both Texas A&M and Washington attended to Roland's injury.

The senior guard appeared to land on his foot awkwardly after taking a shot in the paint.

Roland's doctor, Chris Wahl, said this morning that he's very pleased with Derrick's progress.

Roland will be admitted to the Physicians' Center in College Station upon his arrival.

A&M Head Basketball Coach Mark Turgeon is on his way back to College Station today.

Athletic assistant Dustin Clark, senior guard Donald Sloan, and his aunt will remain in Seattle and accompany him back to College Station on Friday.

Texas A&M will play its first game without Roland on Saturday, January 2nd, when Northwestern State comes to Reed Arena for a noon tip.
