HOUSTON (AP) - Texas officials say a man with tuberculosis is in protective custody and undergoing treatment in San Antonio.
Experts say Lemone Yowman's form of the disease is different than the drug-resistant strain an Atlanta lawyer is being treated for.
Officials had been looking for Yowman for nearly a week before finding him at a relative's home in Port Arthur yesterday. He was taken to San Antonio in an ambulance with a police escort. Officials say Yowman was "cooperative" and "uncombative."
According to court documents obtained by the Beaumont Enterprise newspaper, Yowman has been under the care of the Port Arthur health department since January but has refused treatment since April.
