Raleigh, N.C. (AP) A disciplinary committee says North Carolina prosecutor Mike Nifong will be disbarred for his handling of the Duke lacrosse rape case.
Earlier Saturday, a disciplinary committee of the North Carolina State Bar found that the Durham County prosecutor violated rules of professional conduct in his handling of the case.
Nifong was charged with withholding DNA test results from the accused players' defense attorneys, as well as lying to both the court and bar investigators.
Nifong promised Friday that he would resign his position as district attorney.
Nifong's lawyer has said his client won't appeal the punishment.
