Officials with College Station Utilities say about 12,000 customers lost power Saturday morning when a substation shut down.
As of Saturday evening, officials are still trying to figure out the root of the problem.
The substation located behind Post Oak Mall went out of service around 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Officials say power was restored to most customers by noon, others had power restored early Saturday afternoon.
The College Station Police Department says it was bombarded with calls. Police ask residents not to call 911 in situations like this one. The department says 911 should be used only for police and fire emergencies.
