LUBBOCK -- Fired Texas Tech coach Mike Leach says the father of the player he was accused of mistreating after a concussion meddled more than any parent he's ever come across.

Leach also denied he mistreated Adam James when he spoke Friday to The Associated Press about his firing.

Dismissed Wednesday, two days after his suspension, Leach said
it was indisputable that James' father, ESPN analyst and former NFL
player Craig James, lobbied frequently to get his son more playing
time.

"There's not a coach on our staff that will even remotely
suggest that he hasn't meddled," Leach told the AP. "Just because
you have influence, power and a microphone in front of you doesn't
mean that your son should have any more right to play than the
other guys."

Dear ESPN: Please get Craig James OFF MY TELEVISION. Craig James is smarmy. If you don't know the definition of smarmy, look it up.

It sounds as if Leach clearly had his faults. However he is major impact coach and took Tech from nowheresville to competitiveness. I fear Tech is going right back to the bottom of the dust bin without Leach. Also, I don't understand how Craig James, a veteran of a macho sports world, could be so quick to let his son be branded as a weenie and a pansy forever.

Daddy's boy is not good enough to play and seems to be a sissy as well. Let's see what he is doing next year. Daddy can't protect him all his life. Either be a man and man up or turn your uniform in. Football is a mans game and not for the lightweight. I hope that Leach will get a job that plays Tech and whips these sissys.
