A Houston man has been charged with attempted capital murder following a weekend crime spree in Grimes County.
Marcus Lair is being held on $500,000 bond and other charges are pending.
The Grimes County District Attorney's Office says Lair, 30, faces eight counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, one count of deadly conduct, one count of evading arrest, possession of a firearm and burglary of a habitation.
The same charges are pending for Lair's alleged accomplice, Rhonda Ellis of Bedias. Ellis is listed in critical condition at the College Station Medical Center.
Lair and Ellis are accused of robbing a Bedias man at gunpoint early Sunday morning. Sheriff's officials say the two tied the man up, along with two other family members, robbed them and fled.
The couple ended up flipping their vehicle and allegedly carjacked a good samaritan who stopped to help.
Officials say Lair has a lengthy rap sheet, including arrests for aggravated robbery and assault.
