A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect until midnight for Lee County. Strong thunderstorms will continue to be possible, across the Brazos Valley, this evening. Winds in excess of 40-60mph are the main concern, within the strongest activity.Heavy rainfall between 1" and 3" has the potential to cause localized flash flooding in a few locations.
Funeral arrangements have been set for a former Bryan City Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem who died after being involved in a freak accident last week.
Services for Ples Turner are set for Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Allen Chapel AME Church in Bryan. Graveside burial will immediately follow at the Restever Memorial Park.
The 84-year old passed away Thursday from injuries he sustained the day before. Turner was struck by the side-view mirror of an 18-wheeler on Highway 6 while walking to his car.
Cumulatively, Turner served as a council member for 13 years, and spent a total of four years as mayor pro tem. He also had the honor of being the first African American postal carrier in Bryan in 1955.
