Several teens were injured, one seriously, when an SUV loaded with young people lost control and crashed Tuesday night on Smetana Road.
The Department of Public Safety said the wreck happened around 7 p.m. as the vehicle was crossing a railroad track. Authorities believe the driver was trying to beat a train and the high speed of the vehicle caused him to lose control.
The SUV flipped five or six times ejecting two of the male occupants. Several were taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center, one by helicopter.
Names and extent of the injuries have not been released.
