Brady Continues Fight Against Current Healthcare Plan

Three votes in the House, or one in the Senate. It's all that needed to switch from the initial votes on healthcare reform last year in order to sink Democrats hopes of passing their plan. Congressman Kevin Brady remains on the front lines trying to find those votes.
Brady, the Republican representing District 8, made his regular visit to Brazos Valley This Morning Tuesday and discussed the on-going debate on how to change up healthcare in the country.
"We've identified about 37 conservative Democrats, many of them who have strong pro-life beliefs, who have opposed some of the life language in this bill, because the bill has gotten more expensive and, I think, more bureaucratic," Brady said.
The congressman also reemphasized that he and those opposed to what is on the table do not want to kill the bill, but "send it back to the drawing board, because we do definitely need some healthcare reform."
No representative for the Brazos Valley voted in favor of the House bill last year.
Brady also noted the critical Senate runoff in Massachusetts Tuesday that has far-reaching implications in the healthcare debate. The late Ted Kennedy's seat is up for grabs between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown. Polls show the gap closing in a race analysts thought was sure to be won by Coakley.
Of Democrats' efforts to get a bill passed in the wake of a possible Republican upset in Massachusetts, Brady said "I think they are rushing. I think they've submitted a bill to the Congressional Budget Office for scoring. We've still got some political problems they need to resolve.
"If Scott Brown wins today -- and that's still an amazing long shot -- but if he wins, rushing [the healthcare bill] through, I don't think the American public will accept that. They want elected representatives to determine a bill that basically takes over one of our most key sectors. I just think they need to let the public will go on this."
Brady had more to say on the topic, include whether he thinks the bill will ultimately get passed despite any opposition, along with a deal cut by Democrats concerning a tax that Brady called "appalling". To watch the entire interview, click on the video with this story.

I’m aware that I already pay for it so why pay for more of it??? The only system of help our country should have should be for the legitimately disabled, the elderly and children but having 5 or 10 kids on welfare should be criminal. Welfare drug testing should also be required and frequent. The demonazis have had control of congress and done, nothing but destroy the country with empty promises and point in the other direction. You actually believe the talk they feed you but in all the time they have been in control what action have you seen.
Here's a hot flash for you GW. You are currently paying for those without health care insurance. When one of these individuals shows up ar the emergency room (their primary care physician) with no way of paying, who do you think picks up the tab? And who do you think pays for that baby to be delivered on Medicaid. The taxpayers. The Republicans, with the help of their leader Rush Limbaugh and FAUX News have succeeded in stopping any chance for meaningful health care reform. The "Public Option" was a way to bring health care insurance cost down. If you think the health care insurance companies are in the business because they want what's best for you, I have some lovely beach property in Yuma I would like to sell you..
Healthcare reform is needed, but this bill is not it. It's time politicians get the message that they work for us, and stop trying to force bills like this that the majority oppose.
