Brazos Valley residents had the ultimate driving experience Thursday to help save the ultimate gift -- life.
Visitors at Garlyn Shelton BMW dealerships were able to test drive 19 silver BMWs decorated with pink modernist maps. Thursday's event was the 11th time that the Annual BMW Ultimate Drive Supporting Susan G. Komen Foundation has been held in Bryan.
The goal behind test-driving the cars is to rack up as much mileage as possible. For every mile driven, $1 is donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Garlyn Shelton BMW Vice President Ed Whittle says the event drives home the importance of finding a cure.
"I've learned a tremendous amount and I'm more aware of breast cancer and who it affects," Whittle said.
The BMW Ultimate Drive kicked off back in March and will end in October. In all, 237 BMW Centers across the country will have participated. Organizers hope that the total amount of miles driven add up to $1 million.
