The College Station Fire Department says fire heavily damaged the office and clubhouse at the Melrose Apartments complex at 601 Luther Street.

Fire officials say a call came in around 1:28 p.m. Sunday regarding a possible fire in an office building.

When fire crews arrived at the apartment complex they found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the office building. The complex's clubhouse, were the exercise and game room are located, is right next door to the office and they received fire damage.

Authorities say the fire was contained to those three buildings. Fire fighters were able to bring the fire under control around 3:00 p. m.

Residential buildings were not damaged by the fire and no one had to be evacuated. The cause of fire is under investigation. Fire officials say they are looking at the possibility that a lightening strike may have cause the fire.
