Country Crooner Committed to Mental Hospital

Country music singer Doug Supernaw was committed Monday to a mental institution.

A Houston judge found Supernaw mentally incompetent to stand trial based on a psychological exam. The 46-year-old was arrested in November outside a Houston nightclub and charged with drug possession. Police say he was found with marijuana.

Judge Mark Atkinson ordered Supernaw to Rusk State Hospital for 120 days of treatment.

The singer has served time in Brazos and Washington County jails, but currently doesn't have any cases pending in either county.
