Despite rain showers, folks over in Burleson Country continued to celebration a long-time tradition.

Members of the Mount Zion Community Club hosted their 54th Annual Free Barbecue.

The barbecue is held at the club's center in the community of Mount Zion, located outside Caldwell.

The club's president Chester Canady said the event allows family and friends to reconnect with each other and to remember times gone by.

"That's what it's all about. Just come back and fellowship, get together and just talk about old times and just reminisce and enjoy themselves," Canady said.

Organizers say for more than 50 years, they have been able to hold the barbecue on the Fourth of July.
