Longtime Brazos County Tax Collector-Assessor Gerald "Buddy" Winn is stepping down. Winn, 66, submitted his letter of resignation Friday.

Brazos County Commissioners will vote Tuesday on accepting the letter. They will also discuss his replacement.

Winn has served the elected office for 30 years. In 2003, he surprised many in the community by switching parties and joining the GOP.
