Friends of a murdered Blinn student used the Super Bowl as an opportunity to help memorialize their friend.

Former classmates of Jenna Verhaalen took up money to start a scholarship in her name, in Verhaalen's childhood hometown of Waupaca, Wisconsin.

Verhaalen was murdered in April of 2008, in her Bryan apartment. Two months ago, 28-year-old Jeremiah Rosser, pleaded guilty to her murder and was sentenced to 55 years in prison. Rosser was a maintenance worker at Verhaalen's apartment complex.

Since then, the case has received more than just local attention. The television show Forensic Files will feature it in an episode later this year. The show's producers will be in Bryan next weekend to interview those involved with the case.

Hopefully this will settle the one thing about the case that really bothers me; why in the heck would Rosser steal a valuable laptop and then leave it under the back seat of his car for 7 months instead of using or selling it? If not for the other evidence, that alone would have screamed frame up to me.

Herbert I am as excited as you are about seeing the Brazos Valley on Forensic Files but you have to understand that next week will be the interviews to get the whole story. Then your talking about a few months of making a script for the show and doing all of the dramatizations and everything that goes into making a TV show. It takes a long time, I bet it won't air until after summer.
